Teaching philosophy:
My teaching is guided by two principles: flexibility and integration with my research. Flexibility involves adapting teaching methods to suit the content, ensuring effective learning. Integration with my research means bringing current, relevant economic and social issues into the classroom, along with practical, solution-oriented approaches. This approach fosters mutual enrichment: students gain insight into cutting-edge research, and their perspectives enhance my research work.
Teaching style:
Aligned with my teaching philosophy, my methods adapt to the content while promoting research-based, practice-oriented learning. Guided by module descriptions, I focus on three key areas:
Basic Knowledge (Theoretical Models, Methods)
Delivered in lectures, where I summarize core concepts, link them to current events, and encourage participation through topical discussions.
Application (Calculations, Problem-Solving)
Taught in tutorials with step-by-step tasks, starting easy and gradually increasing in complexity. Students present solutions, while I guide them through challenging parts.
Independent Work (Political-Economic Issues)
Explored in seminars, where students tackle real-world questions independently, refine their work through consultations, and present findings in discussions. Personalized feedback follows examinations.
This structured approach ensures engagement, mastery, and practical application.
Throughout my career, I’ve taught a variety of different courses in different formats (i.e., lectures, tutorials, seminars) and supervised Bachelor’s and Master’s Theses. Courses I’ve taught are:
Behavioral Economics (Lecture and Tutorial, German)
Experimental Economics (Lecture and Tutorial, German)
Game Theory (Tutorial, English)
Applications and Implications of Behavioral Science in Management and Economics (Seminar, English)
Behavioral Perspectives of Digitalization and AI (Seminar, German)
Behavioral Economics of Fake News, Conspiracy Theories, and Biased Information (Seminar, German)
Note that, all the courses I’ve taught in German or English, I can teach in the other language, respectively.
In addition to these courses, I am prepared to teach (having the expertise and materials) lectures like e.g. Introduction to Economics, Environmental Economics, Economics of Digitalization/AI.
